A little while back, America's First Freedom had a story about the "collector's edition" DVD that was coming out for the movie, Red Dawn.
My wife and I vowed to buy the DVD when we could find it.
You know how these things go . . . the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
The other night, I found the DVD in my local Walmart (where I buy all my oil and filters for the vehicles) for $9. Snatched it up.
Wife and I watched the second disc (2-disc set. First disc is the digitally remastered movie, second disk is behind the scenes, interviews, etc) and thoruoughly enjoyed it.
Most interesting were the comments and attitudes of Milius, Patrick Sweazy, Lea Thompson and C. Thomas Howell. These folks GET IT! Hell, even Charlie Sheen was lucid and making sense in the interviews.
But even as an aside to the politics of the film, how the film was made, the effects, the weather challenges (they shot a number of scenes in -40 temps, and that's not wind-chill factor. That was actual temps up high in the mountains), and how they built Las Vegas, New Mexico, into Calumet, Colorado.
All in all, it's making a superb edition to our DVD library.
Just wanted to pass that info on.
