He had been a model participant in a court-ordered counseling program for domestic violence offenders. Authorities and domestic violence experts said after the killing that the city needed to re-examine its reliance on counseling for domestic violence offenders.

San Francisco County needs to get a new sheriff, one who will issue permits to women like the woman in this sad story. The current sheriff has only issued ten permits, presumably all of them to judges (etc).

But he did start a program for doing acpuncture and art therapy in jails!

I wish the NRA would get a movement going in CA to replace bum sheriffs like this one and like Sheriff Baca.

Sheriffs in the PDRK are pretty much elected by political machines comprising Rotary Club, Kiwanis, Lions Club, etc. members. That does not seem like much, but given the fact that Sheriff is a non-partisan position, and that their names appear randomly from ballot to ballot, those small numbers of dedicated members are enough to put a candidate over the top.

I suggest that if you really want to influence an election for Sheriff, infiltrate those civic duty organizations and ask hard questions of the candidates when they come around sucking up for the money and the votes.

That's a sheriff? Looks more like a 1940's bit part player in B movies. Our local sheriff is no better, plus people keep dying in 'custody'.

At the time of his arrest, McAlpin had eight prior felony convictions, all for domestic violence, and had been in and out of jail -- as recently as last week -- yet had never been sentenced to state prison.

Well, yeah, sure but he votes for representatives of the Democratic (sic) party, so it's okay.

Scott McAlpin stalked, harassed and threatened his former girlfriend for three years, once even carrying her down the street in an attempted kidnapping until someone maced him, authorities say.
[preach to choir]Replace "maced" with "shot" and the story would have ended there. [/preach to choir]

Have you guys seen the Chief of Police or Fire Dept. there?:D

What about the mayor?....remember him and the whole declaring a ban on gay marriage unconstitutional. Personally I couldn't wait to run for mayor so I could decide on federal constitutional issues....who needs a supreme court?

I will admit, I did not read the Whole article very carefully :barf: . Obviously the piece of trash should not have been out walking around.

However, I have to wonder why the girl did not take precautions or action to protect herself... :banghead: Maybe I missed it?

"Wiggum, your out"

"You, tuck in that shirt"

"you, get that badge out of your mouth"

"what are you waiting for, somebody to kiss you goodbye?"
