I was at the local gun show carrying too much cash. A Bushmaster OCR is now in my safe. $800 OTD. Its my first AR, I was anticipating an AK purchase but I just couldn't do it after close examination of both options. Did I do good? (I know, its like asking what's better, chocolate or vanilla)

A. OH MY GOD! You STOLE that AR, you are SO lucky!
B. You SO got ripped off. I hope you have a REAL job!

It's A. Well, it maybe B. Well somewhere in between anyway.

Sounds to me like you didn't do too badly. Lots of AR's out there over $800 and not so many under that (OTD anyway).

You made out good on the deal. Way back when I first got the itch to buy my own "evil rifle" I set out to buy a AR. Well when I saw what they were selling for I decided to get a cheaper AK instead. After having the AK for a few days I thought to myself "why didnt I just get a AR". AKs are fine if all you want is a reliable rifle that makes alot of noise, but in the end the AR is superior IMO. I still own a AK (kit gun I built myself) but I now own 3 AR15s and 1 AR10. Take that FWIW.
