I stopped in at a nearby gun shop on the way to work this morning.

I rarely go by this shop, but this morning I was running a bit early. If I get to work before 11:00 am, the parking garage is full, between 11 and 1, lots of open spaces.

So, I stopped to kill some time, and at the end of the used pistol case (most all consignments), I found an excellent bargain.

A S&W 422 with checkered wood grips, adjustable sights, 6†barrel and two magazines, plus the original blue card-board box and papers.

The pistol is exceptionally clean with no dings or scratches. The price tag? $99.99, so it cost me $108.24 out the door.

I hope it shoots… :D

That would have been a good deal if it was a better gun. Too bad it is a S&W 422. I think you got an average deal, I see them for $100 all the time and I don't bite.

Rule of thumb for good social relations: never belittle a man's wife nor denigrate his new gun (at least not right away)!

Snubby -- Or start a thread bragging that you got a "killer" deal when it wasn't a killer deal at all!

9x19, were you bragging or just letting us know how happy you were to buy a new gun at a reasonable price ("exceptionally clean with no dings or scratches")?

number6,

Feelin' just fine... if I took anything firestar had to say about firearms to heart, I'd be in sad shape.

Never said it was a killer deal... just a deal. I learned a long time ago, it doesn't matter what you buy, there will always be someone *claiming* they can get it cheaper, faster, and with more options. {shrug}

snubby,

I like the gun, I liked the price, that's all that matters in the long run. Eh?

9x19 -- You're right, and my apologies. Good luck with your new pistol and let us know how she shoots. :)

That's a good deal in my neck of the woods. I'd have bought that.

"9x19", where is your neck of the woods?

I know a guy that got one last year as part of a trade. He has put alot of rounds through it & has been happy w/ it so far. Shoot & see for yourself ;)

Hmmm... synthetic grips, fixed sights, only one magazine, and all for $175 more... I should have held out, I guess.... :neener:

I guess some people aren't happy unless they dump on someone else.

9x19,

You got a great deal. It would have cost twice as much where I live.

What ticks me off is I bought the same gun here in MD for close to 300. Other then that it's shot great, don't see why others consider it a bad pistol.

Hey for a hundred bucks, what the heck. If you can get a clean weapon for that, why not add it to the collection. Buying and selling is a hoot !
Tell us more after you shoot.

Well, the good news is the S&W 422 works!

The bad news is I didn’t have time to wring it out for favorite ammo, group size etc., as I had to go to the college with my son before work... $515 for books! :what: What a scam! :cuss:

One thing that I didn’t notice yesterday… the mags are 12 round mags, rather than 10, and are marked with a 12 round witness mark. Not that big of a deal, but pretty cool to have a .22 pistol with “Pre-Ban-Hi-Cap-Mags†:D

$515 for books!

Just wait till he goes to sell those book at the end of the semester. $515 will turn into $200, less if they're changing versions, which happens all to often...

I got offered $20 for a $100 accounting text (1 year old) becaue they were changing versions. I took it too. I was never going to look at that book again and accounting wasn't my focus in school. I don't think I ever got more than 50% for any of my books. Still, it was a good source of beer money during exams (take the exam, sell the book)

Chris

I bet I know where you got it! (seems like I've heard you mention you live in the Sherman area, either here or at TFL)

Sounds like a fine deal to me 9'er.

Pay no mind to Firetard. :D

Did I spell that right? :uhoh:
