I have been moving into a new apt with the fiancee. Bigger apt but still no garage...yet.

Throwing away the empty boxes at the dumpster and I had to do a double take...saw a VERY familiar blue color inside the dumpster...

closer look was called for....

and I walked away with a Dillon Square Deal B set up for 45 ACP...I am uncertain as to why it was in the dumpster but I am guessing that they didn't know that Dillon has something called a warranty. :D

This was yesterday...and today is my birthday so I guess it works out every now and then.

Probably from a "going out of marriage" situation. I have some experience in that area..........

Great find, though. Congratulations.

Probably from a "going out of marriage" situation.

Exactly what I was thinking, except maybe not quite marriage...

Some guy is going to be awfully mad. I bet the Dillon warranty does not cover "my X threw it away".

More likely an eviction. One of the pluses of living in apartments is that sometimes you score awesome stuff (generally tools or wood/metal furniture) from around the dumpster after a tenant skips town or gets evicted.

Shoney, this is another one of those you win but you lose situations...

you see...the fiancee has taken a liking to my 1911...slimmer grip than my 92...when I told her it was set up for 45 ACP...well...it went from potential "junk" to worthy of storage space. :)

Life is good when you got a redneck for a future wife. :D

Oh...made a half-hearted second pass but no brass. :( Ah well...I am happy with what I got.

When I lived in an apartment I took the trash bags down to the dumpster one day and found an entire Atari 800 computer system in there. The computer and printer worked fine but the floppy drive was toast. I added that 800 to my collection of 3 others.

:D

I scored some good stuff back when I ran maintenance at a big apartment complex, but never reloding equipment. That is a great find.

And people wonder why dumpster diving is a hobby of some folks. (Yes, even quite a few "middle class" people).

First, you start picking up brass at the range or looking at people's curbs on "city cleanup day" when everyone puts their "junk" out front. It only goes downhill from there...

I've found completely functional, 1-year-old computers like that before - the only problem being a spyware-infected Windows install.

Dillon will still repair it if need. I purchased some used 550 shell holder and at one point one gave up the ghost, the cartridge rim snapped the shell holder.Called Dillon to get a new one told them what happened they sent me a new shell holder saying "we warrantee the product even if you didn't buy it originally" Damn nice people those Dillon folks

Highlander5,

I heard the same thing about their ideas of what customer service should be...you give them the opportunity and they will bend over backwards to make it right.

And I have no shame when it comes to dumpster diving...especially up at work. Oilfield work tends to do that to you. I "came into possession" of some "source pigs"...for those who don't know, that's what we use to carry our radioactive sources in...and don't worry..they were all checked with a counter to see if they had any residual and no they didn't. :) But the main shielding is lead...each one contains roughly about 60 lbs...I managed to kype 6...and having access to Baker Hughes drawings and material certs, I know that we call out for non-alloyed lead for use in the pigs. SO...when I get my casting setup...well...I will be in pretty good shape, I think. :D
