I borrowed a co-worker's FN Hi-Power (chambered in .40 Auto) to take the photos below, of it wearing AlumaGrips' latest grip offering. These photos were taken on December 9th, and Chris Lynch (Owner and Founder of AlumaGrips) gave me permission to post them. Note that these grips will be available for ordering on the AlumaGrips web site after the first day of the 2007 SHOT Show.

The grips shown above are, of course, black with standard checkering. Their fit and finish, like AlumaGrips 1911 grips, is superb.

Ive been a fan of the AlumaGrips look for awhile now. They just don't make 'em for the guns I have yet (no 1911s in my stable). These HP grips look like more of the same in terms of looks and quality, which is good ! Nice to see that they are expanding to dress up more than just 1911 style guns.

Wow, those are nice.

Just to clarify, does anyone still make the HP in 9mm? From what I can gather from sporadic posts about HP's, they are only made in 40SW now, and only by FN. Does Browning still make HP's in any caliber?

If anyone who knows could give me a brief rundown on current HP production I would appreciate it.

FN has always been the manufacturer of the Hi Power. Browning is only an importer for the North American market. All Brownings are FN's, not all FN's are Browning's.

I don't believe Browning has EVER manufactured any of their firearms, All were made in Belgium by FN or Japan by Miroku.

The 9mm is and always will be the most popular HP caliber. The .40 comes second and .30 Luger a distant third.

Several years ago FN opened a US office (FN USA) to market directly to military and police. These Hi Powers were marked with the FN rollmarks, not BROWNING (since Browning was not the importer).

FN apparently decided that competing with Browning (FN owns Browning) was not worthwhile, so they stopped marketing the HP through FN USA. FN USA sold their remaining stock to several dealers/distributors (most notably CDNN who sold many of the FN 9mm's and .40's for $399. They have sold out of the 9mm and only have the .40 in stock).

Browning still sells the Hi Power- but for quite a few more $$$ than the FN. Both 9mm and .40 with various finishes, grips and sights are shown on the Browning website.

Holy Crap. Those are awesome! I wish I were going to Shot Show this year to check those babies out first hand, but I guess I'll just have to wait until I can order a pair.

Thanks for posting the pics!

I've been dying for AlumaGrips to come out with something other than 1911-style....but I have to wonder why they chose the relatively obscure HP to be their next offering. It seems like there are some other very large markets out there (CZ's and Berettas come to mind) that would have had a lot more appeal (unless the AlumaGrip owners happen to be HP fans!).

In any case, they look like another great AlumaGrip product....I guess I'll just have to continue to be patient!

yeah, strange that they'd pick a gun with a 70 odd year continuous production history that's still going strong worldwide....go figure:confused:
