After about 1200 rounds, the gas rod in my M1A is starting to hesitate when I give it the "slide test", which means I need to get serious about obtaining the drill bits necessary to clean it out.

Anybody know a good source for these things?

Preferably, I'd like to avoid getting the whole set of govt. bits, I have absolutely no concievable need for them.

Alternately, is there a satisfactory way to clean out the gas system without these beasties?

I purchased my tools from Brownell's. They worked really well scraping out all that carbon.

Craftsman....

I actually had a long talk with an old timer tool guy @ sears about this.

A) He was jonesing my M1A :)
B) Sears didn't seem to make the govt drills...he checked the BIG catalog...
C) I got an interesting education in the alphabet drills, and how they're used in industry.
