Are there any other makers of custom/aftermarket grips for the Ruger SP101. I've got a Gemini Custom on order, but I just don't think I like the laminated grips from Badger that they are using, nor do like their Nightstalker grips. I've looked at the Hogues, and Eagle grips, but I am wondering who else does nice grips for these cool revolvers.

I've got a Gemini SP-101 and it is wonderful to say the least. I played with different grip options and in the end found that I like the factory grip best, I got a set of exotic wood inserts and called it good.

This is very much a matter of personal preference. I tried the Pachmayrs and the Hogue rubber grips, and I did not like either. I now have Hogue wood grips on my SP-101, and I am completely satisfied with them.

I have used Hogues and Badgers. Liked them both. The Hogues worked better for shooting and the Badgers are great for CCW.

Give the Badgers a shot, they are spectacular grips and he makes other styles. Give him a call and tell him what you want. I cannot say enough good about Badger grips or service.

As much as I like the Redhawk, GP and SP, I still can't stomach Ruger's rubber grips with wood inserts. Sort of like putting a luggage rack on a 'Vette

Another grip maker is Herrett's at:

A number of designs are offered and some can be made to fit your hand. I had this done on a Redhawk and was very happy. Besides laminated wood Badger does offer some Corian grips

At one time I believe Altamont made some grips for the GP/SP models (the ones offered with the gold plated trigger/hammer combos offered thru one of the distributors.).

On my SP I have a set of Hogues I ordered from them with only one finger groove. I had a set of Hogues without a groove on a Colt small frame I had and found it would twist in my hand. Normally, I order grips without a groove and the grooves don't line up for my hand too well but the single groove on the SP works great for me.

If money were no object Roy Fishpaw could make a set of whatever you desire in spectacular wood.

When I got my SP101 back from Gemini I put Hogue Rosewoods on it. I lightly refinished them myself to be really smooth.
Hogues are just the best. I love them.
Here are the pics of my Gemini with Hogues.

I like the rubber with wood inserts. A fellow over on Rugerforum.net does great work with a variety of woods. I've got cocobolo's in my GP and SP now.

This stuff is subjective. What works for me won't necessarily work for you.
I've tried nearly all the available grips for the SP101, and actually like the stock Santoprene grips best (with custom inserts, of course).
The Uncle Mike's, Pachmayr, Hogue (worst of all!), Badger and others all change the natural pointing characteristics of the SP101 for me, making it no longer reliably match natural "point" to point of impact, and all aftermarket grips also raise the barrel axis relative to the hand, at least somewhat, compared to the stock grips.
Unfortunately, the new management at Ruger (since Wm. Ruger Sr's death) has stopped offering the original grips in favor of a rubber Hogue abomination, so if you find the original grips more to your liking, check eBay or do a web search for spares.

The stock grips fit me great so I also went for a set of inserts to dress the SP up a bit.

Inserts by .41 magnum.
