I have a ruger sp101 and a Gold bead site from Gemini and I called a local gunsmith and he wanted to charge me a minimum of $65 to install it. I think that is absurd. It looks easy enough to do, just pop the pin out, swap sights and put the pin back in, but I'm sure it's not that easy. Is this a home project and what tools do I need and where do I get them. Thanks, Jeff

that sounds like a pretty fair price. you have to drill your new front sight in most cases (for the retaining pin). its a lot harder than it looks. you are dealing with a very small hole to drill.

if your new sight has a hole in it for the retianing pin, then you may be able to do it by yourself. you will need a very small pin punch and a vise. clamp pistol in vise by the barrel using cardboard to protect your barrel and tap the pin out. insert new sight and tap pin in.
