I am trying to find a specific pistol manufacturer/model, more for nostalgia than anything. It was a pistol owned by my grandfather and when he passed away I was overseas on a 6 month cruise(USN). When I was able to return home, my grandmother passed to me his Weatherby .22lr which she had hidden away for my return but all his other long guns, shotguns, pistols had disappeared.
Anyway he used to have this small .22lr pistol which I remember was most definately "Made in Spain". That's really all I know about it(no pics receipts). I would say he had it since the late 80's. I have had little luck finding out which manufacturer or model it could have been. The only things I have been able to determine is that it looks like an older Bersa FS22 in particular the slide looks identical. Bersa's from what I understand are made in Argentina. Does not add up. I don't think it was a Llama either. Any other Spanish pistol manufacturers I am missing? Thanks Razz

Sounds like maybe an Astra Constable, made in .22LR, .32, and .380; I think they were imported here around 1969 or 1970. Well built gun, resembling a Walther but with slightly larger dimensions.

Only four Spanish gun makers survived after 1936. Three of them made handguns, Astra, LLama and Star.
With so little information to go on, the best thing you can do is to find a large bookstore such as Borders or Barnes and Nobel. You don't to buy anything, you can set down and peruse the books there . They even have comfortable easy chairs to sit in. In the Sporting section pull down The Standard Catalog of Firearms and Pistols of the world. Look up the handguns of those three makers starting with Astra. PRazz. that's your best bet, other wise it's just a guessing game. Good luck.

Thank you all for the input. It was most definately an Astra Constable in .22 as I have found by searching the suggestions.

pictured is the .380 but it is identical to his .22 as I can remember the circular Astra emblem and the "Guernica(Spain)". Time to hit the shops and find one, like I say it won't be the same one he had but I can remember him shooting that pistola alot and it will bring back some memories. Already has, thanks again er...uh muchos gracias. Razz
