Speaking of finishes

I have a beater gun that I would like to refinish with a good finish but not such an expensive finish has hard chrome. Yes I know its great stuff and I have some guns with it but it would cost half the value of the gun. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonable finish that is cost effective?

It looks like they still want $200 for the gun. That seems a little high still. But thanks that's the kind of idea I was thinking of.

So far parkerizing seems to be in the price ballpark. There seems to be zinc and manganese. Anyone have experience with these?

What if anything are the down sides to parkerizing??? Anyone have any experience

Duracoat is pretty reasonable to coat an entire pistol. Contact Brad at CCR. They do excellent work, and have very good prices for coatings.

I bought a Makarov that was refinished with Duracoat and its very nice.

I also have a Sig with a ceramic coating over the slide that I like a lot--its sort of a beige color. Looks good against the black frame.
