"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all . . .

and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2004, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "AMERICA" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or choice of computer platform of the wishee.

(By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.)"

I can't believe they spelled America in all capital letters. It's so patronizing towards non-Americans.

I'm gonna sue!

;)

Can't remember the last time I saw a message that conveyed such warm fuzzies... Not quite sure why it required all the legalese, either. "Winter solstice holiday," gees, my eyes are getting misty. That's some weird combination of Orwell's 1984 and Kubrik's 2001.

"You should print cards and sell them"

I didn't come up with the original text, but if I did make cards, what image could I possibly use without offending someone? I think the only correct image would be no image, and include a package of markers so the sender could draw the image of his/ her/ it choice; but the postage would be awfully expensive :D.

One reaches point at which almost anything you say becomes offensive to someone. In our opinion, you either care or you don't.

Accepting that politeness is considered to be a symbol of good manners, one is reminded of the saying, (I forget who's) " Patience can be taken too far, to the eventual perception and end result of being perceived as cowardice".

someone has printed meaningless garbage all over it
and put your name at the bottom."

Have a RamaHanaKwanzMas

LMAO!
I AM sending that as my greeting. Thanks for the lovely idea. I even printed cards for family. Thanks for the ear to ear grin!!

My favorite, PC or not, has always been the postcard sized rectangle cut from a cardboard box with the greeting:

Money is short,
and times are hard,
so here’s your darned old
Christmas card!

HAPPY HAPPY and MERRY MERRY

Great, I was looking for a greeting to send my secularist, liberal friend in Belgium.
I was gonna just say heaux, heaux, heaux! :D

The card may be satire, but here's a real card that I received from an aging hippy friend of mine: front of card is a winter scene; inside it says "wishing you love, serenity and balance."

I have no idea what that means. I suspect he doesn't even know what it means, since he's stoned all the time.

But that would be discriminatory against people who can't draw. :(

You BAD
