...and it looked like a boatload of fun!

I'm keen on getting into it, but I have to wait 1-2 months for the next range safety course. Are all the clubs that way? It seems they'd attract more new shooters if you could just show up and shoot...

Most clubs that I have been to are not that way. I understand the logic I guess. There are probably other clubs near you that arent.

Most clubs I'm familar with just have a new shooter briefing then turn you loose. Well not "loose" typically you'll be told to let the range officer know you're new so that they can do a bit more hand holding, errr. ..... ahhh, "field training".

Have you ever been instructed in the proper use of a holster and range discpline? If so I would just call the club's contact person and see if its ok if you just show up for the next match.

Monster..

email the section coordinator

[email protected] , here on the frontrange..

I think you can shoot the same day, get your safety briefing at the Pueblo West club.. we should be shooting on the second weekend..in sept..if you get a chance..come down for the Mile Hi Showdown at this club..be good to meet ya..

I emailed a a couple of guys to contact with the club that might be able to help

Monster,

Here's the web-page for all the local IPSC/USPSA matches, and also 3Gun:

http://www.ecouspsa.com/

Schedule and contacts:

http://www.ecouspsa.com/schedule.html

This coming weekend, there's an "all steel" match at Boulder (not USPSA/IPSC - just show up and you can probably shoot). There's IPSC at the Aurora Gun Club on Sept 7th, also.

I'm betting you can just show up and shoot as a "new shooter", but if you want to make sure, see if you can contact one of the guys listed on the web page.

Hello Monster. I am the SC/HMFIC for Eastern Colorado. I also run most all the matches (IPSC, 3-Gun and IDPA) at Pueblo.

The section has a policy that you must complete some sort of safety class/check prior to shooting any IPSC match.

Pueblo runs these safety classes prior to every IPSC match (2nd Sundays) for free. And your first match is free also. We have some loaner equipment for those that are mag and mag pouch challenged.

This weekend there is the Steel Match at Boulder and The Mile High Showdown is at Pueblo. The Mile High is a USPSA Tournament level match. One of only a handful this year in the US. 10 stages of nothing but field courses. No shoot this from here, not there. If you can see it, you can shoot it. No mandatory reloads. We are also having a free manual operated rifle side match.

Contact me at the email above and I can answer most questions.

Tom

So for starters I could just show up to the steel match and shoot? Then maybe I could chat with some of you guys and figure out a good time to take a safety course.

I could wear a nametag, or you could just look for the guy with a Briley Advantage in a Fobus Roto-Padde
