I just got a Taurus 651 .357 maggie for CCW. Problem is I can't find speedloaders for it. Wanted HKS but don't think they make them for this configuration. And I refuse to try Maxfires. Bought them to use with my Taurus 608 and bottom line: THEY SUCK!!!!!!

Found this over on the old Firing line forums.
Buckeye tool&mfg corp.po box 471, Columbia Station, Ohio44028. phone# 440-236-9854

They make them for the 415 taurus .41 mag's. Might call and see.

I just bought a HKS model 36-A today for the missus' SP101. Also a 5-shot, also a .357. I dont know if the cylinder is similar in size, but it should be pretty close. As far as taurus models, it lists both the 85 and 605 for the 36-A... I still have the package if you find out of another model with similar dimensions.

Ya, basically if you have a 5-shot DA 38 or 357, it's more or less a dead certainty that it'll eat out of S&W Model 36 or similar J-frame speedloaders.

This is true of the Taurus model 85, Charter Arms 38s/357s, Ruger SP101, S&W's own 357 J-Frame variants and a boatload of others.

I don't know for SURE that this is the case with the Taurus you have but I'd be VERY surprised if it wasn't...

WAIT: Taurus' website had a speedloader conversion chart last time I looked. Strongly recommend you go look for it there. Failing that, spring for an HKS model 36 speedloader and just try it (God knows they're cheap enough to take a risk on one...).

We agree on the suckage factor of the Maxfires. Sorry guys, bad idea.
