I see they have models for the other Benelli guns, even the M2 and the original SBE.

Anyone know if a model will fit my M1 Super 90? I think one would be great for duck season this year.

Thanks in advance.

Karbon,

indirect answer...will these be a permanent mod on an ever increasingly expensive and growing in demand weapon? i bought a 9 shot model new in mid-90's for just under $600. traded it as 98+% in 2002 for $900 in consideration against another firearm....your call.

A good optical sight is the single greatest aid to wing shooting you could ask for. For long range waterfowling it was great. You do not have to "look at the bead", the optical dot is right out there in the same focal plane as the target. You don't have to try to focus on both things, it natural. They did not develop optical sights for fighter pilots for nothing. Head position and nothing else matters as long as you have the dot where you want the shot to go - the right distance in front of the target - and that's where it will go. I used a Lyman Quik-Point very successfully many years ago. But, it was bulky, heavy, and I had eleven dozen mount issues. I have viewed the SpeedBead with great interest, but I have heard there have also been mount issues with these. I do not have any personal experience. I have seen the other Burris model mounted with drilling and tapping, but I will not drill a receiver, just a personal fetish. The Speedbead mount is a no gunsmithing, removable affair.

Why do YOU think a "speed bead" would be better than your eyes? Shotguns are meant to be pointed, using your eyes as the "rear sight"
You're right. Those all army trials that showed optics increase hit speed by 32% are just utter crap. They need to learn to use their guns better.

Point being, a reflex optic is a great addition to any situation that requires snap-shooting. I run a cheap Barska reflex on my Mossberg 500 and with a cylinder choke and 20" barrel, popping clays mid flight has become stupifyingly easy. You look where the clay is/will be, and your mind naturally brings the dot to bear. Literally it is a no-brainer shooting.

As for a Burris fast-fire on a M1, as I understand the M2 is an updated version of the M1 with some minor internal reliability and production improvements, so the Burris mount should fit your M1, as they are basically the same gun.

If they were the greatest thing since sliced bread, why aren't ANY of the top competitive shooters using them? Not one trap, skeet, sporting clay, Olympic, FITASC shooter uses them....... If you're spending your time looking at the bead in the first place, you're missing the point. You SHOULD be looking at your target as it moves. If your gun fits you, then it will point where it needs to be naturally............

Funny, you see red-dot set ups on shotguns in 3-gun Open quite often. Could it be that in Olympic, FITASC, etc. classes there is specific prohibitions against optics on your gun?

Perhaps its a generational thing. It seems younger shooters (like me) prefer optics and what we see as the inherent advantages of them. Older generations seem to stick to the "we don't need no stinking optics/semi-automatics/repeating rifles/etc." lines.

Karbon: it should fit. Worst case, E-mail Burris and ask them, worst that can happen is the e-mail monster eats your e-mail!
