I've been practicing both with and without a speed loader with my .357's for the past few years. The speed loader is slightly quicker, but only if a rim or other part of a round doesn't get snagged going in. Au naturale, I can pull and load three rounds at a time with my left hand, and never have a snag that way. It feels more fluid. So should I just bag the speed loaders and try to focus on getting better with my hands? I guess this is sort of an Obi Wan "use the force" question :D

Use whatever works best for you.

I'd go with speed loaders.

If you don't like those, there are always feed strips, which a lot of people seem to like for CCW. They're not as fast as speedloaders, but they take up much less space.

Convert to moon clips?

If speed in reloading is what your looking for. Consider getting your cylinder converted to accept full moon clips. Not legal for IDPA, but faster and more positive then speedloaders.
I have seen 686's converted to full moon use.
I'm A 625 owner.

If these are reloads and you are having trouble chambering them, the rounds are probably not crimped enough.

How are you carrying the loose rounds?

In the box or in traditional loops. I guess I spent too many years loading by hand, but speed loaders feel unnatural to me. I'm just wondering if I'm really giving up all that much by not using them.
