Speedfeed pistolgrip/stock question

i had one of the non pistol grip ones on my slug gun for a while and didn't much care for it. If you shoot lefty, the right shell carrier pokes you in the cheek and makes getting a good cheek weld difficult. I can't speak on the pistol grip stock, only the integrated shell carriers.

I got one for my 870, recently sold it just because I like traditional stocks better.

It was very solid, high quality product.

Oh! I really didn't like the speedfeed forend, it was way too narrow for me. If you get one, I'd highly recomend ordering an aftermarket synthetic forend from another manufacturer.

Actually I don't really like the stock forend that came with my 870. I have small hands and they cramp up a bit after gripping the thicker one for awhile. This sounds like it could be a good purchase for me!

I have the speedfeed PG/Buttstock on one of my 870's and I like it. This particular 870 is my "artillary piece" and has a 6rd sidesaddle, extended 6rd tube (loaded with 4) and hogue forend.

I like the SF stock. I keep 4 rds of buckshot in it and, combined with the 4 in the tube and the six slugs in the sidesaddle, I feel pretty prepared! The gun is heavy and thus is my HD "barricade gun" rather than my "Search/House-clearing gun" (870 Wingmaster with 4rd sidesaddle, 18.5" barrel, and std. wood stock) or my "car-gun" (Mossy 500A with 2pt bungee sling and butt-pouch with 5 slugs and a survival kit in the zipper pouch.

I'm toying with purchasing another 870 and adding a Knoxx Specops stock and surefire forend (to match our department guns), then switching the SF stock to a folding stock and making it my car-gun, using the 500A as my house/search gun, and the wingmaster as a backup/fun gun.

I've just got the plain Jane SFII stock set on my 870P....balances/handles/feels/sounds very like wood....their tenite/fiberglass blend is very tough, and best, it has low thermal conductivity, thanks to the tenite....in other words, it always feels nice to the touch....the forend is rather large rounded square, deep ribbing, and deep finger grooves, which makes it feel smaller....

I use the SFIII and I really like it. It has a long LOP if that is an issue for you.
