Is the speedloader for the Ruger LCR the same as the SP-101? If not, are they available? Thanks.

Review of LCR in Aug American Rifleman states that the HKS 36 speedloader
worked well.

Mas Ayoob stated in his review that the HKS loaders for a J would bind up on the LCR; major bummer, IMHO.

Sounds about right.
Heck, they bind up in a J-Frame too.

Not much room for a speed-loader to work on a J-Frame because the cylinder doesn't swing out far enough for a speed-loader to just barely clear the thumb-piece latch if you hold your mouth right.

Hogue Grip or Laser Grip?

For those that are reporting that the speedloaders work ok for their LCR, do you have the standard grip or the laser grip?

HKS doesn't bind up in a J-Frame, really. They do work fine, just not as cleanly as one might desire. "Bind up" means "fail" to me.

I have found that the HKS #36 loader used on an LCR with the standard Hogue grip, interferes with the grip. You can load with the HKS, IF you only let the bullets (not the cases) enter the cylinder, then turn the release knob. If you push them in any further, the whole mess sticks. With the probability of this happening under stress, I'd stick with Speed Strips for now.
