I've been wondering if the barrel on my sporterized 1898 Krag was original or if it was replaced when it was sporterized.

Is this what you call a contoured barrel? Is it indicative of what would have been on a model 1898?

Any input would be appreciated. :)

Is that a 30-inch barrel? If so, it's almost certainly original. If it hasn't been shortened, and the new front sight doesn't cover it, the Ordnance Bomb should be visible on the barrel just behind the sight.

If it's gotta be sporterized, that's the way to do it. Beautiful. :)

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question.

Barrels are officially measured from the bolt face, but that isn't going to make up 3 inches. If the rifle is still .30-40, I would bet that it is the arsenal barrel just cut, engraved, and blued.

Well done, but I don't know if I like the Weatherby style stock on a Krag.
