Hey everybody!

I have a lee enfield no.4 Mk. 1/2 (a mark 1 that has been upgraded to mark 2 specs...which mainly has to do with the trigger if I recall) that has had its stock sporterized (or adulterated if you will). Anyhoo, I really want to make it "whole" again. Do any of you know of a good source for not only stocks but the buttplate, sling atachments, screws etc.? A company by the name of Sarco seems to have a lot if not all of this, but is there another place.

Thanks!
P.s. a price estimate would be very helpful.

Maybe, ...

I dunno - have you shot it yet? I love my sportered Enfield. I know it's cool to put them back, but a modern stock and butt pad can be sooo nice to actually shoot :)

I shot it a while ago (when it was still my dads...I traded a computer for it). It does have a butt padd, but it is old and stiff. I personally prefer old military configuration on guns (when they were made for it that is). As an aside, do you (or anyone) find that the no.1 mk. III has a smoother/easier action than the no.4 Mk.2? It could just be that my dad's "new to him" no.1 is in better condition.

As far as smoother, remember it's cock on closing so it will feel stiff closing until you get used to it. Also, I'm sure it could use a real good cleaning and mostly lube. If you don't mind a bit of stuff that might smudge your shirt, I use GunSlick with graphite to really slick up some actions. My buddies use assembly lube. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of another. Either way, Enfields can be made pretty slick if you work at it :)

As far as mil-surp parts Sarco has some, Apex supply in Colorado has some, Numrich will have a bunch, and there's always eBay. There's an outfit in Australia that has all sorts, but they can't export gun parts without a ton of paper work :(

Hard to tell for sure from your pic but it has the appearance of one or the Parker Hale (UK) sporterized lee Enfield 303s. Its for sure had the barrel docked & much as I like to see a good original LE, I'm also a big fan of a properly done LE sporter & the Parker Hale ones were certainly that. I don't necessarily subscribe to the theory that that the only good LE is a fully original military one. Good restorable ones should be just that but those that've been sporterized & used as hunting firearms have aplace in the pantheon of Lee Enfield history. Certainly in New Zealand they're an icon of the bush & have earned their dues.

an enfield 303 was my first rifle purchase at eighteen years old.....i personally view it as a sin to modify them imho. love enfield rifles i have a soft spot for old guns

Below is a link for Milsurps.com and their Enfield forum, it has many knowledgeable members and its blessed with Mr.Peter Laidler the Senior Armourer in the British Military who actually worked on the Enfield rifle. Also at the top of this forum there is a sticky and you will see the "Knowledge Library" that is full of many Enfield books and manuals of which I donated more than a few.

And a "few" of my donations to the library at Milsurps. (a must have for the Enfield No.4 owner)

I also have a complete No.4 Canadian Long Branch stock set available for sale or trade if you wish to restore your Enfield to its former glory. "BUT" you need to post photos to see if restoration is possible in your Enfields condition. (if it was modified or altered in any way)

Track down Springfield Sporters. They have stocks and small parts to rebuild your rifle, as long as the barrel has not been cut.

Good luck!!!

Numrich gun parts, sarco, springfield sporters, ebay=all good answers...

BTW, there are different stocks for Ishapore and Brit, so be careful.

@Biged

I can tell that mine has not been altered (it has the original front sight with protective "ears": and such). I'm having problems uploading pictures at the moment though. A stock set would be wonderful, but I would also need all the barrel bands, screws, etc. If you had those as well, or a source for them...
