I have a 1.4 million 1903 nickel steel action that is going through the sporter process. I'm currently having a one piece Redfield base installed and a Brownells ruger style bolt handle. Id like to use a B&C carbilite stock and have a few questions. The stock is inletted for an '03A3 which id assume stamped bottom metal and no rear sight on the barrel. Are the milled and stamped bottom metals the same profile? Lastly I'm considering re-boring a 1944 RA two groove barrel to .338-06, any thought on re-bore jobs? That barrel should mate up resonably well with a stock inletted for an '03A3.

the trigger guard profiles are different between the stamped and milled, and the stamped have no separate magazine plate. but they are interchangeable if you have all the parts for each type, to my knowledge.

Here you can see the difference in stamped/milled (milled in the middle, and I imagine the front bit of that one took a hit at one point; others I've seen have a squarish profile)
