I am new to High Power competition and am looking for a spotting scope that I can use. I would like to stay moderately priced (from $200-500) since I just bought two new high power rifles for my son and I to compete with. Any suggestions?

Man, I'm glad to see that link! I found it about a year ago, and then lost it, and have been trying to remember it ever since.

Look on EBAY for a Bausch & Lomb Senior with a 20x eyepiece.
These often are sold with the saddle and tripod included.
These were top of line in the 60's; and still are hard to beat.
I have bought some in the 100 to 175 range.

Maybe the same scope!

Bottom of the line that are still usable (actually decent), are the Bushnell Spacemasters (look for the made in Japan). I haven't found anything less expensive that is worth buying.

It wouldnt' surprise me if the Spacemasters are/were made by LOW/B&L.

I just found a spacemaster about a month ago for 200. For the money its the best scope out there. If you want info get into the birdwatching forums. They are pretty picky.

I have owned the older model Spacemasters and they are excellent scopes.

But I would recommend the Konuspot 80mm based on other High Power shooters' recommendations, if you are on a budget.

If you can afford to spend a little more the Kowa 661 with a 25x LER is a great scope for Across the Course - great glass and lightweight. I was using a Kowa 661 for awhile until I found an excellent deal on a used Kowa 821 that I couldn't pass up.
