Made it out last weekend for opening day of spring turkey season here in TX. Managed to bag these 2 beauties 1st thing in the morning. The bigger one was 17 lbs dressed and the smaller one 14 lbs.

Rig: 12Ga Mossberg 535 with 22" turkey barrel + super full choke
Ammo: Federal Premium 3" Mag Shock, #4, 2oz load
Misc: Dropped the 2 with 1 shot @ approx. 33 yds; lined up my dot between the two and waited for them to both reach the 'looking' posture, and the Federal Premium did the rest :)

Now let's see your pics!

congratulations! heck of a shot. i have the same federal ammo just itching for the season to open.

week and a half to go here in NC.

Yes these are Rios, there is a bumper crop of them this season, unlike previous seasons where they were scarce as heck. I cooked up the big one (plucked and trimmed for the roaster he went 13.5lbs) for Easter Sunday. Everyone commented that it was the tastiest turkey they had ever had (and I come from a long line of holiday turkey eaters...). Basic prep was to brine for 15 hrs (1c salt/1c sugar per gallon water), rub cavities and under skin with garlic and rosemary-infused olive oil, then roast breast-down in 325F oven until meat thermometer read 155 on breast meat. I plucked/trimmed the smaller guy and stashed him in the freezer for another feast...
