Hello everybody,
I recently received a beautiful springfield 03 Mk. I from a distant acquaintance. From what I can tell, this Gentleman really cared about his guns. It is a sparkling sporter with some aftermarket sights and a really slick action. but enough of my drooling. He left it with mystery grease (cosmo?) in the barrel and i cant get a really close enough to identify it and remove it so the gun is in a shootable condition.
this may seem like a pretty simple solution to what ive made out to be kind of complicated, but how does one remove the bolt from a 03 springfield.

Thanks

I have an A3, and all I have to do to remove the bolt is to take that On/Off lever on the left side of the receiver and lift it halfway up, which allows the bolt to be pulled straight back and out of the receiver.

My terminology here is most certainly incorrect, but the process isn't. :)

Dehughes is absolutely correct in proper removal of the 03 or A3 bolt. Sometimes you may have to pull the trigger while removing the bolt. No :cuss: is necessary, the bolt comes right out.

The "ON / OFF" lever is the magazine cutoff that allows rounds to be hand fed one at a time with a full magazine...untill the enemy is close then you have a full mag and a bayonet! That the personal side of War. Put that tree position switch in the middle and the bolt pulls out the back.
