Got to shoot my new (used) SA 1911 9mm target. It is the one that has target sights and is all SS with all the extras. I also has Hogues, magwell and a oversized mag release. Really a loaded 1911 if I ever saw one.
I shot about 200rds of CCI Blazer and WWB. No problems at all, it fed everything like a champ. Most 1911s I have seen have been very reliable but I have heard about the 9mm version being picky but such was not the case with mine.
Accuracy was good but not what I had expected. I had high hopes that this would be the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot because of the size and set-up. It really looks like a target 9mm. It is plenty accurate and more accurate than most service 9mms out there but it is not as accurate as I had hoped. I planned on useing it for 25 yard bullseye shooting. I still may use it if I really want to shoot 9mm but my 6" S&W 19 will probably outshoot it with not much effort.
Maybe I need more practice with it, sometimes it takes a few range sessions before I really get to know the gun and get the most out of it. I have never been very good with 1911s for some reason. I can shoot a nice revolver much better in slow fire than an auto. The trigger pull is a little on the heavy side for a SA only gun IMHO. I think that is most of my problem.
I also took out my SA XD and it was shooting great. I am as impressed with it as can be. I shot it just as well as the 1911 which is amazing. The XD is very accurate for a service pistol and it shoots better than most 9mms I have tried.
