At oklahomashooters.com there is a SS TRP which is their top of the line before customs. It's only a little over $1000.00, but to answer your question it's a fair price if your going to keep it. The loaded is a really nice gun, and u won't be sorry. The TRP is a far better gun for $200.00 more.

Hi Toneman,

You seem new with 4 posts and all...so Welcome to THR.

Also if your shopping at Turners your probably So-Cal, always nice to have another So-Cal shooter around (ya know to discuss the 10 day torture that is waiting, or how people in Minnesota for instance seem to buy their firearms for $300 less than down here, etc :)). What part of So-Cal are you in if you don't mind me asking...you don't have to tell me where you live if you don't want to...what Turners do you shop at? I usually go to Reseda unless I happen to be in Pasadena.

As for the 1911...1911 fever is definitely in the air. They only have it for -$30 off normal price, chances are if you wait you can probably find a better sale. I should add I'm horrible at waiting and have to hide my Handgun certification to ensure I don't spend too much.

If your ever in Northridge or Burbank I believe Firing Line indoor range has some Springers you can rent (with some simple restrictions, check w/ a phone call first) to really make sure before dropping $1000 otd on it.

Thats my general Buck-0-5,

RFB

Welcome aboard. Good luck with that LOADED if you get it. I'm picking up a Loaded Black Stainless today. Personally stainless is the way to go. If the Stainless you are looking at shoots as good as it looks that is the One Gun To Have.

A Springfield Armory Loaded is indeed a good gun.

If you're looking for a 1911, Calguns.net has a lot of people who sell their lightly used 1911s for a fair price.

www.calguns.net

All of us CA shooters hang out there, you'll be sure to find deals on a 1911 in short time. Good luck.

Thank you for your very warm welcome,
I'm in Orange county So. Cal.
Seems like it is good one ,
So I will go down & get one today.

I just back from the store this thing made in Brazil not made in USA
so I ask the person work there, nobody knows what's going on.

The forging is from Imbel, a Brazilian company. It's a quality piece and worth every bit of $800.

Yes but I was expected to be US build.
I kind of thought that it has a low price tag,
is that why ?

SA outsources the forgings. I *think* they assemble some of the forgings in the USA. I paid $729 (+tax) for mine of the exact aforementioned model. If you want to spend more, you can. My first choice was a stainless TRP, which is even nicer than the loaded but I couldn't justify the cost difference (over $300 more). My PX9151L has been flawless.

I paid $550.00 for my Taurus PT1911, and I couldn't be happier. I am not suggesting that you buy one, but I will say that for me, $809.00 is to steep a price for a 1911.

If you can afford it, (and many people can't or won't)- the
Springfield TRP "Professional Model" would be the way to go.
The average civilian consumer cost per unit is just 'bout at
$2300; but its a darn mighty nice firearm. Also, it was the
choice of the F.B.I. "HRT" teams~! :uhoh:

Springfield Armory has some fine weaponary in the arsneal;
with even the lower end 1911's as forged by Imbel in Brazil
being some of the nicer stuff out there. I wouldn't hesitate
to buy another Springfield Armory 1911; as I already own 3. ;)

I just bought a Champion Stainless Loaded. Great gun. Don't let the Imbel bother you. Do a search on FAL's and you will fiind that if it has an Imbel reciever it is highly sought after. Imbel has a good reputation. The Springfield's are good guns. I paid $789 for mine so you are in the ballpark pricewise.

Toneman -

All of SA's slides and frames are forged by Imbel in Brazil. Imbel is a world class arms manufacturer which has produced such things as receivers for FN-FAL. Their products are top notch and their stamp is a good thing.

Whether or not there is a faint "Imbel" stamp on the underside of the frame has to do with import regulations. If more than a certain percentage (51%?) of the pistol is assembled/finished in Brazil then it gets the faint stamp. If more than 51% is assembled/finished here in Genesco then it doesn't have the stamp. Either way, you'll have a great pistol.

I'll just add that I pay much more attention to the pistol that I want rather than pricing. With ammo prices of .45 now well over $20/bx of 50 in California $300-$500 over the life of the pistol just isn't as meaningful as it used to be when you consider that represents about 4 - 8 visits to the range these days.

Guns are relatively cheap right now compared to ammo. Get what you want and be happy.

Years ago in 2000 when I bought my Kimber Gold Match the dealer thought very highly of their frames, don't know if in 2008 the II series carries that on (not talking bad about any model, I own only one Kimber so I literally cannot compare it. :)). Sounds like the people that know have nothing bad to say about the Imbel.

That being said there are many fish in the 1911 sea, if the Imbel is putting you off others will come. Like Bluto said: "Get what you want and be happy."

And just to address your specific question, no, its' not cheaper cause its' made in Brazil; all the SA's are, and have proven themselves to be quality guns. Don't let that put you off. Have owned several and they have been fine performers. I usually buy the Mil-Specs as a base gun for customizing; even the low end SA's are great.

I was quite curious about it also. Did not expect to see this on my PX9152LP.
OK...I'm over it. I think I'll just shoot my Loaded and enjoy it.

I would shoot one as much as you can before plunking down what that pistol will cost you. I just sold my 1911 Loaded after too long fighting the realization that I just wasn't a 1911 kinda guy. I got a decent price for it and was able to sell it to a friend who really wanted it, but I still wish now I hadn't gone through the expense of the gun and the reloading components. Live and learn....

SA loaded is a great gun, hi quality, great value and assembled in the usa. i have a loaded blk stainless and love it, paid 719 for it, i have seen nib ss loaded models floading around b/t 679 and 759....

I have a SA loaded black stainless. Between it and the same gun by S&W I'd go with S&W based on my S&W1911PD Commander. It is a different animal altogether, and is not a full sized all stainless gun, so I'm not saying get it over the SA. I use each for a different reason. I did change out my full length guide rod for a one piece recently, and did a trigger job with all new ignition parts when I got it, which is why I say S&W for me over SA. Havi8ng said that the SA shoots about as good as my Baer and Brown. About, not quite.

I recently purchased a Springer "Champion" SS w / nite sights.

I was a little put-out by the "Brazil" stamp on the frame, upon closer examination, function, fit and finish etc. Mmm Mmm, that's one nice 1911 !
