Springfield Armory seems to being trying to represent that their "Loaded Operator" series of 1911s are the best of all worlds -- featuring "high end" upgrades standard -- Giving you everything you need, but nothing you don't, at a common sense price point: would you agree?

I'm drawn to all three of the top line option on their link --> http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-loaded-45-acp/

Here's an enthusiastic review of the "M.C." model --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oxrSlmZWUw

Would that be before or after they were using a crappy two piece barrel.

I had a "Loaded" 9mm that was the worst, most problematic pistol I had ever owned.
My vote would be an STI. I have had good luck with their guns at that price point.

I had a Loaded. It was a good pistol. I sold it and don't miss it, though.

My experience too. In the mid-level price range I'm most impressed with the S&W 1911's. They don't get a lot of notice, and many don't like the un-traditional external extractor. But they work, are accurate and are a good value at the price.

Eh. If I were going with SA (and I like their pistols mostly), I'd pony up a couple/three hundred more bucks and pick up the TRP (which I think is, along with the Dan Wesson, one of the best production 1911s available).

But, without a rail. Putting a rail on a 1911 and calling it an "Operator" is just silly ...

Springfield Armory has a really imaginative marketing department. "Loaded Operator" is a new marketing buzz word like Milspec and Law Enforcement.

Well...I think it's got a lot of stuff on it that isn't really needed. At least, I don't need it. But if you need it and/or like it, they're pretty nice pistols.

Chris Kyle....

I think the late Chris Kyle, the US Navy SEAL/sniper with the most documented E-KIAs(enemy killed in action) used a loaded S-A Operator .45acp while deployed in SW Asia. He wrote in his book: American Sniper he had a SIG P220R .45acp & a S-A Operator. One pistol was damaged during a mission so Kyle had to convert to the other sidearm.
I can't recall which pistol was damaged in the IED incicent but Kyle wrote both pistols held up well.
If I recall, Chris Kyle also used a Springfield Armory Operator 1911 as a EDC gun while in CONUS. ;)

He also said that the only thing still stock on his carry mini springer was the frame. And yes the TRP was carried by him, on occasion,I read that also.

The OP is talking about a Loaded not a TRP, though. If my memory serves me correctly a TRP costs about 50% more than a Loaded.

I have an MC Operator. It's a nice gun. Very nice. My Dan Wesson is nicer but cost more.
The MC is on nightstand duty.

I also had a Springer Loaded 9mm and the only problems I ever had were related to the junk mags that came with the gun. The Wilson ETMs solved the function problems. I now have an STI Trojan 9mm that is just a great range gun. I did have a chance to try out a Springer Range Officer 9mm 1911, and if you put a F.O. front sight on the Range Officer, I think this gun can shoot just about as accurately and reliably as my Trojan.

...everything you need, but nothing you don't...

I don't need or want the ambi safety. Likewise, I don't need or want the FLGR. That's why I went with Sig for my 1911 (twice).

For the record, Kyle's 1911 was an SA TRP

+1.

I like to think Kyle new his guns, and he chose the TRP for the reason.

It is, ounce-for-ounce, dollar-for-dollar, the greatest production 1911 in the world today. And it looks good doing it, too.
