A couple months ago I decided to buy my first semi-auto for range work and occasional carry in the woods. After reading a lot and trying out a couple different models I settled on a Springfield Mil Spec as the gun I wanted to buy. Unfortunately I can't find the darn thing anywhere. I've checked a large numbers of gun shops through most of Colorado and found just a single one, over priced and in a finish I didn't want. Every place I've found to order it online currently lists it as "Out of Stock".

Is it supposed to be this hard to find this gun? Is there any place online I can find it? Anyone know of any shops that would have it within a hundred miles or so of Denver?

I'm looking for the parkerized version. So far I've only been able to find one and that's in stainless.

I'd call Wild West Guns - 800/992-4570 and ask for Ken. If he doesn't know how to get one you're in trouble! :)

I thought Wild West Guns mainly did work on rifles. Do they do pistol work as well? Or are they just really good at finding things?

Check with GalleryofGuns.com. It's the website for Davidson's, one the bigger distributors in the US. You can order one from their Website with a deposit and pay the balance when you pick it up from a local dealer.

I got a GI Champion from Davidson's, but I didn't see anything in their last flyer.

I tried to order from Davidson's, the Springfield site actually directs you there if you want to buy one. It seems to be different than I remember in that it's trying to help me find the item locally so I can pick it up myself. So far, no matter what zip code I've entered nearby, it's always returned zero results.

The search itself works, it's found other types of guns in local stores like I would have expected.

Is there any way to order direct from them on their website?

They sell only to licensed dealers. Did you check Bud's?

Yeah, Bud's is out of stock as well. So is Impact Guns and Prairie Arms, pretty much the only two other places I know to order online.

Bud's has a good price on it but no indication when they may get any in.

There are only three parkerized Mil Spec's on there, most of the ones listed are the GI version. Two are used, no problem but I prefer to see a used gun in person before I buy it, especially since at least one of them has been modified. I can visit the one in Arvada easily enough, and I plan to soon, but the one in Idaho is right out. The other possible Mil Spec on there is new but well above MSRP.

Be patient and one will come up. I just bought one from a local shop last Saturday when I went in looking for Colt products. Lucky timing I guess. I had him looking for SA Loaded Stainless model but he had the parkerized in the store so I grabbed it up. Good luck with your search.
