My brother and I both purchased one.Since we have had these, neither one will function the way they are supposed to.Both will jam(will not extract,ftf..etc)He has 3 guns from CMP that are flawless!(1 '45 2 '54 models)Those guns run like a champ. Both of our guns have been sent back to Springfield. We have been trying to shoot Greek ammo.Anyone else have this problem with the new Iwo Jima models?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a Iwo Jima model, but I do have a Springfield Armory Inc. NM Garand. It doesn't like anything but minimum SAAMI spec ammo. The chamber is "tight".

I don't know how SA put together its various Garand models. It is just possible that the tight chamber was not limited to their NM model.

From research, I believe I understand the typical "real" Garand has a generous chamber.

If the Greek surplus didn't slip into the chamber easily, that is probably the cause, IMO.

It took me quite a while to get my dies set right so my NM Garand would chamber my reloads. New Winchester brass wasn't a problem, but the once-fired wouldn't feed, extract, etc. after reloading. Kind of like what you're describing, I think.
