From "The Truth About Guns": https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2...-illinois-ffl-licensing-scheme-for-carve-out/

"While its prospects are still unsure in the House, if signed by Governor Bruce Rauner, the new law will mandate state licensing for all Illinois gun dealers. It will also restrict all others in Illinois to nine firearm transfers per year.

The lobbyist for the Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA), Jay Keller, traded that group’s opposition to the bill in exchange for a carve-out, removing Prairie State firearms manufacturers from the licensing requirements.

Two companies provide the bulk of the funding for IFMA: Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms."

SA and RRA and their lobbyist got themselves, as well as 'big box' stores, exempted from the Illinois dealer licensing requirements, at the expense of all the rest of us. No more SA or RRA firearms bought or sold for me. Good luck to them as they set out on their own, leaving gun owners and dealers in Illinois behind.

why are those 2 companies even in Illinois anyway. they are like some gun owners going along with giving up some rights like supporting background checks as long as it don't effect the guns they have

I'm very angry at this. I've been a happy M1A owner for a decade, but now I'm wondering if I should sell it (at a considerable loss because of the stigma that SA has now brought upon themselves).

It was bought before this decision, the sale would not affect SA one iota. If you like the gun, keep it for nostalgia for before the company turned on their customers. That is how I am justifying keeping my pair of XD-S's, and why I will NOT be buying any more of their products.

Because now every time I look at that rifle, I will think of what a sellout the company that made it is. I don't need a rifle to raise my blood pressure.
that is silly. if I lost money and lost a fine rifle it would raise my BP. ruger and S&W did similar things in the past . guys went crazy then after a while it was all forgotten. now they rave over their auto pistols and AR's. same will happen with rock river and SA. so why lose money and your rifle? even you will forget about it in less then a year. you are making a rash decision based on emotion. come on this aint the oprah show

You should offload it for sure. I mean who wants a rifle made by a sellout company?

pm me your bottom dollar sale price please

Of course you're right, at least if I sold it today. I'll hold onto it for awhile and let the situation and my anger settle down. I'll revisit the prospect in a year or two. In the meantime I will definitely steer everyone asking my advice on gun purchases, clear of SA and RRA.

now you are talking. in a year or 2 I hope they move to a friendly state and you will forget about it. but you are right about steering people away from buying from now on until maybe they turn around and move out. bad part is now that you keeping the rifle I was gonna offer you $100 for the rifle

It doesn't matter if they move out of state, the decision to screw over Illinois gun owners remains.

Actually, think about how much more it will be worth in a few years, after SA files bankruptcy and fold due to alienating their customer base.

I still won't purchase product from S&W or Ruger. I will add SA and RRA to that list. I know that They are many companies that are anti 2nd but these gun companies are suppose to support us and not stab us in the back. And yes I have a long memory and I carry a grudge.

yes you should sell it to me for pennies on the dollar. when I take it out shooting, I will remember the "company" that used to be SA.

Les Baer got the hell out of Illinois years ago and re-located right across the river to LeClaire. Everything was better and more friendly on the Iowa side of the River. He has never regretted it.

I had three guys who were nibbling around at buying the Springfield Saint - they were just waiting for the price to come down a bit. Just this week I received notice that pricing actually has dropped, so the deals could soon be made.

But now ... the landscape has changed. Each of the three decided to go a different route, forsaking Springfield Armory in response to this action which feels so much like a 'betrayal' to Illinois firearms dealers and buyers. One customer got a Colt LE6920, one bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 15, and the third went with a new Ruger. Forgiveness for SA and RRA may well come with time, but right now many of us have no intention of giving them any more of our money.

SA & RRA certainly have the right to look out for their own corporate interests, just as I have the right to choose where MY money is spent.

but S&W and ruger years ago were worse then RRA and SA. so your friends proved nothing

It is fine to buy from Ruger now considering the fact that they are not in any way similar to what they were when Bill Sr. was still running things. He was the sell out and Ruger has more than made up for that by now producing all the types of things he was against and being a high quality, Pro 2A company. There is no reason to boycott Ruger and S&W got the message too. Apparently SA and RRA did not understand that message, but they are about to.

I called SA yesterday. The rep I spoke with told me there's more to the story and to check their web site in a week as things will be explained. I live in the Chicago area so this impacts me directly. I'll check their web site as suggested, but whatever they do had better be substantive, not just a bunch of spin from them. There are too many quality manufacturers out there to support a company that pulls this kind of stunt.
