I have discovered something about my Springfield GI Mil spec. The barrel near the end has a ring around it. Its not just a finish thing from wear. If you rub your fingers across it, you can feel that ring. Its not a bull barrell thing. I try to reason that it isn't anything serious because the ring is uniform all the way around the barrel. However, I thought I would seek confirmation to make sure that all the barrels for this model have the ring. Thanks guys I am including a few pics of the barrel.

It is a 1911 thing. The bushing locks up on that "ring" and slides on the thinner part of the barrel.

Very common and totally normal. This actually reduces wear on the barrel bushing as the gun cycles. Back in the day, gunsmiths used to turn 1911 barrels down on their lathe to create this effect.
