So as no surprise to me Springfield doesn't make their own clips for my Wide-body 45. Instead they had MecGar build it. I have hated ALL MecGarbage clips I have ever run into.

That point not withstanding. It holds 13 rounds, barely and not well, but 13 rounds. The Price is roughly 45 Frog Skins. If you buy one of Para's clips, it holds 14 rounds. Gets tough to load, but not as bad as the other choice. The fit and function, in my wide-body is better than the Garbage stock clip. Price: 45-50 Clams.

Let's see here, 45-50 for a bad magazine, or 45-50 for a functioning mag......
When I used to work for the FBI we called this a Clue boys and girls.
How is it that Springfield can't get the message??

(No profanity be it open or veiled. Thanks.)

Darkker, easy on the "Pablo" and "fuggin Cannucks" comments. I'm not a Mod, but that's startin to push it with racially inflamatory comments and that is not High Road.

You might want to check your facts before bashing Mec-Gar as well. According to their website, http://www.mec-gar.com/main.html, they are or have been OEM supplier to the following companies: AMT, Armscor, Astra, Beretta, Bernadelli, FN/Browning, BUL, Charles Daly, Colt, CZ, IMI, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Llama, North American Arms, Remington, Sigarms, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, STI, Standard Arms, Star, Steyr, Tanfoglio, Taurus, Walther. There are some mighty big time names in that list. Firearms I've personally fired using Mec-Gar mags include: Browning Hi Power, Beretta 92, Kel-Tec P-11 & P-3AT, Kimber 1911, Several S&Ws, and Springfield XD in 40 S&W. I've not had a single problem with their mags. Maybe the XD 45 mag needs some tweaking, but it's still a pretty new design. If the mags really are that bad I'm sure Mec-Gar and SA will fix the problem. I also don't think I'd be reading so many glowing range reports here on THR from XD 45 owners if the mags were such junk. It may not be as nice as a Para mag, but thats no reason to trash an established company and insult their product line while insulting their ethnicity as well. Nor do you have any reason to insult Canadians on here.

I've had good luck with mecgar mags. Here's mecgars for the para for less than $20 by the way. Mark

If MecGar makes a magazine for a pistol I own, I'll always buy MecGar because of their quality and reliability.

So, what did Springfield do to you to get your panties in such a twist? You have a SA bashing thread in the Rifle section, and now this one. I have 4 SA 1911's and have never had one problem with my mags. And that includes my Hi-cap model. And BTW, they are called mags not clips. Clips feed the mag, the mag feeds the gun.

I probably own about 50 MecGar magazines, for everything from my 1960 hi-power to every 1911 I own.

They are the best overall manufacturer of magazines in the world. Many manufacturers use them as the sole source for factory original magazines.
Folks like SIG arms for example get all of their magazines from Mecgar.

All my Mecgars work 100%.

Your use of the word clips is very instructive as to your level of firearms experience.

Have a nice day:)

The Mags that came with my SA widebody (P12 clone) were most definitely not Mec-Gar, they appear to be Pro-Mag based on the followers and baseplates. And yes I could not make them work and junked 'em.

Mec-Gar Para Ord mags work as well for me as the genuine Para and can be had for $16-$20. Although recently some have had followers that were a little too wide and wouln't come up enough in the tube to lock the slide back on the last shot until I filed a bit off the sides -- its pretty easy to see where it hits the tube taper, I just had to thin the folower there so it would come up higher to activate the slide stop.

My experience is that guns based on the the Para mag tubes (made by Para, Kimber, Armscor/RIA, and SA) in .45 ACP do not hit my comfort level for carry reliabilty because the rounds are prone to bind in the mag at the double to single stack transition and lead to "nose up jams" where the base of the cartridge does not get up into position in time and the slide catches it in the extraction groove or higher on the round.

Stronger Wolff mag springs, lighter bullet weights (200gr or 185 gr instead of 230 gr), and keeping the mags clear all help but in my experience don't completely solve the issue. Great range guns but thery just don't hit my reliability zone for CCW, YMMV.

You can get Para mags for $30 or so if you look. Last time I bought some I got 8 for $200 shipped to my door.

I think the Para mag is a better mag than the Mec-Gar in this instance for sure. I have been shooting Para's since the frame kits first came on the market and have tried just about all the mags offered. STI-for-Para are the highest quality, followed by stock Para mags.

This guy has an anti Springfield rant up in the rifle section too.

I am a thinking somebody got booted off jouster.com and came over here to rant and whine,,,,,,,

Just as an aside, if you are trying to put "clips" that usually fit into some types of rifles into a handgun that uses "magazines", that may be your problem.

I use the 13rd Mecgar mags in my P14-45, and I paid 18 bucks a piece. They work without fail.

Ignorance is not a virtue

Mec-Gar makes magazines for a lot gun companies. A factory mag you buy from CZ, SIG, walther, Beretta are just Mec-Gars without the Mec-Gar label. At least, that's how I understand it.

Their quality seems to be seldom questioned by those who are not ignorant of their virtue.
