Just got back from the local indoor range today and had the oppurtunity to shoot both the stainless and parkerized Springfield Loaded models. There are two major differnces in the two models besides the finish. One being the stainless model has standard 3 dot sights while the parkerized comes with fixed tritium night sights. The other major difference is for some reason the parkerized version has a smoother and lighter trigger, even the range master commented on the triggers when he came to check out my toys.
The stainless model number is PX9151LP and the MSRP is 977 dollars but they can be had new for about 850 dollars if you look hard enough. The pistol I shot today had 600 rounds through it and should be well broke in by now. However this model suffered 2 failure to feeds today.
Here is the slide to frame fit on the stainless.
The parkerized model number is PX9109LP and has a MSRP of 943 dollars but I have seen them go for 800 dollars new in my area. This pistol had 900 rounds put through it and it is well broke in. This model ran flawlessly. I added a Pachmayr American Legend grip and a Wilson Mag well to this model.
Here is the slide to frame on the parkerized.
Here is the Wilson Mag Well I added to the parkerized.
As usual I used Chip McCormick Shooting Star magazines(the stock Springfield mags are garbage). The bullets used today were hand loaded 230 grain Rainier plated round nose with 4.5 grains of HP-38 and CCI large pistol primers.
Now here is the target used from 10 yards. The holes from the stainless model are marked with a black hash mark and the holes from the parkerized are unmarked.
Here is a closer look at the same target. As you can see the stainles model shot to the left every time and the parkerized stayed on target pretty well probably due to the better trigger.
In conclusion I definetly think the parkerized model is the superior pistol. The parkerized ran flawlessly compared to the stainless. The parkerized comes standard with night sights and has a better trigger. The only thing the stainless model has going for it is the stainless finish.
