I know I'm doing this backwards but, here goes.

Can anyone tell me about the Springfield P9C? I know it was made in Italy for Springfield and was last made sometime in the late 90's. I'm interested in experience with this gun.

I just bought one new-in-box for my son to shoot. He is thirteen, it fits his hand well, and .40S&W is cheaper than .45ACP to fun shoot.

Like almost all the CZ-75 "clones", the Springfield P9 series was made by Tanfoglio of Italy.

Tanfoglio makes complete finished guns, or supplies the semi-finished parts for other companies to assemble and finish.

Springfield went the semi-finished parts route, and the P9 was one of the very best quality clones made.

Tanfoglio supplied guns or parts to:
Springfield.
FIE.
The Israeli Baby Eagle and Jericho.
Excam.
The Swiss Action Arms AT series.
The Swiss Sphinx.
Gambia.

And is the current maker of the guns sold by European American Armory (EAA).

The Springfield P9 was very high quality, and most owners seemed to be very happy with the gun and it's performance.

I was extremely happy with my Springfield P9 9mm, and only traded it off when I bought a EAA .45 version.
Had I been able to find one, I would have gotten a Springfield .45 version, but they were discontinued by the time I started looking, and were apparently fairly rare.

Thanks for the rundown DFariswheel. You've helped me before and I am grateful.

My son is having a ball with it. It fits his hand better than my P220 and is certainly less expensive to shoot. I tried to talk him into a wheel gun for his first but, these kids today...
