Was wondering if anyone has any experience with changing the TRP's night sights to adjustables or what cut Springfield used for the sights?

While I like the night sights the extreme 6 o'clock hold is to much. Out to 25 yards the front blade needs to be barely above the rear sight to hit the bullseye.

So if anyone has any ideas, brands, etc... that would be great.

Thanks!

The TRP is an truly excellent example of the 1911 platform but, as you now know, is sighted for longer distances than are typical for SD. There are a number of options for correcting this condition depending on your comfort level and wallet.

My first call would be to Springfield to see if a taller front sight might be swapped out free of charge.

If not available, you might consider a fixed rear sight which may or may not correct POA with your current front. Harrison Custom makes top notch parts IMO: http://shop.harrisoncustom.com/rear-sights-std-bomar-springfield-trp

If you would like to measure your current POI at the desired yardage, say 15 yds. you can calculate the height you need and order the appropriate height from Dawson Precision: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=SIGHTS+FRONT:Springfield+Armory+1911+Front+Sights. Instructions for measurement can be found here: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/images/Instructions/FrontSightHeight.pdf

Hope this gives you some leads for correcting your current dilemma.

Good info above

It is indeed a Bomar cut. I ordered the Springfield adjustable rear sight for my TRP and installed it myself and couldn't be happier.
