Hello forum members. My son is interested in a 3.3" Springfield XD-S in .45 ACP. Anyone have any experience with the post recall version of this pistol? He's an experienced shooter and has a couple of 1911s, a Sig P226, and a Ruger GP100 revolver. I'm a 1911 guy so I can really offer much advice on anything striker fired and I don't know what the issue was with the recall. Thanks for help.

My xds 45 has been perfect before and after the recall. It is about the smallest 45 you can buy. It is as small as a lot of the "pocket" 9's out there. On top of that it is easily controlled and accurate. I carry mine owb and forget it's there sometimes. 7 round mags are available.

My son just purchased a xds 3.3 from a fellow he works with. The firearm was sent in and checked out and repaired. Took it out the other day and put 200 rounds through it without a problem.

Mine's been great. Love it.

Trigger pull is smoother after going in for the recall.

After the recall I dry-fired mine a couple hundred times and the trigger smoothed out nicely. I had XS Big Dot sights put on it and shot this six round group from 20'. I'm pleased with mine and confident it will do what I need it to do if I need it to do it.

I have nothing but good things to say about my XDs 45 since it returned from the recall. The trigger smoothed out very nicely with dry firing and about 200 live rounds. Your son should probably handle one at a LGS if possible before deciding to buy to see if it fits his hand well.

That's the same kind of accuracy I've seen out of mine. Great shooter. The recoil is surprisingly controlable too for such a small .45.

I still recommend gloves for long range sessions, as it can beat your hand up a bit. I ended up with a small blood blister on my trigger finger after 100 rounds. No drama though, I don’t anticipate ever needing to shoot 1/10th as many rounds in a SD scenario.

The little XDs is a perfect candidate for the Big Dots, as it isn’t and was never meant to be, a long range precision handgun.

Mine is a production pistol that is later than the recall pistols.

Fast becoming my go to concealed carry firearm.

3" groups @ 25 yards if I do my part.

Very capable CC pistol.

SA has CS 2nd to none.

I've said this in another XDs thread (there are about a bazillion threads on this)... but I'll say it one last time here. When I got my XDS (post recall - the dealer had sent it back for the fix), the trigger pull was just about the worst I had ever felt. It maxed out my digital Lyman gauge, which goes up to 12 pounds.

I put the Powder River Precision spring kit in it, and polished basically everything inside that rubbed together.... the trigger came down to a reasonable 5 lbs. 2 oz. Much better, and no light strikes whatsoever. I love this little gun, but I don't think I would carry it with a "factory" trigger. It was way, way too heavy. Safe? Yes... but almost unusable in its unmodified state. My opinion of course.

Mine was perfect pre recall and absolutely horrific post recall. Name a malfunction and it did it at some point. Luckily it has a Davidsons warranty and they're swapping me out for a brand new post recall pistol.

Still on the fence if I'll shoot the new one or sell it as unfired. Its too bad, I absolutely loved this gun before Springfield destroyed it.

Have the 9mm version...shot over 200 rounds pre-recall, and over 300 rounds post-recall. Dead nuts reliable so far, and it even chambers empty brass (well, I've only tried with three or four empty cases...was trying to induce failures during one of my range sessions).

I guess I don't get why you'd sell it unfired. I mean if you really like the gun, why would you at least not see if the new one functions properly. It really sucks that SA screwed your gun up, but don't assume they are all junk now. Mine came back just fine, and so did lots of other people's. I think you just had bad luck.

Unless of course you are just pissed at SA and don't want one of their products as a result. That I would understand.

Id sell it unfired to get the most money I can back out of it. Between the length of time it was gone and the fact that I could not trust it when it got back (twice) , I went out and bought a new compact carry gun.

Edit: also for the record, I love my double stack XD 45...its not a short sighted hatred thing, the XDS has simply been replaced by something I trust more and has a better trigger.

Gotcha. Already replaced so maximize your return. I didn't realize you'd alread replaced it with a differnet gun. I'd do the same then.
