Anyone have a good reload for Springfield XD45? I have tried some semi wadcutters that I had and they didn't work well at all. 230 grain jacketed loads work well but the cost is up there. Looking for some input for lead and copper plated lead bullets. Thanks for the help!

Softball loads with my 4" XD-45 consist of a Hornady swaged 230-gr LRN, CCI 300 primer, 5.0-gr TiteGroup, Lee FCD @ 1.252".

They run 750-fps with an ES of 28 and SD of 12 and the pistol functions flawlessly. Very easy shooting and POA/POI are very close.

I'm working on a pretty warm load with Oregon Trail Laser Cast 230-gr RN, and also X-Treme Bullet copper plated 230-gr RN using Clays or AA#5.

I seem to recall my XD45 worked fine with my cast lead 200gr SWC reloads. OAL should be 1.23-1.25" These are the same as I use in my 1911s.

You can reload 230gr hard cast lead RN for about the same cost per 1000 as the SWC.

The copper washed and moly coated 230rn's work fine in my XD45 service. Haven't tried any 200 or 185 swc's yet, I just got the XD at Thanksgiving and haven't had time to experiment. There doesn't seem to much positive posting about SWC's in XD's.

Mine works perfectly with 185 Gr JHPs (Rem Golden Saber or cheap JHPs) and
7.6 Gr of Unique.

Doesn't work at all with 200 Gr Lead SWCs regardless of load.

Start low and work up of course!

230 gr polymer coatedf RN or 230 gr Rainier TMJ
4.0 - 4.5gr Bullseye
OAL 1.270

Nice easy shooting load with very quick follow-up shots.

I can only get to about 95-97% reliability with LSWC's . . .the COL seems to be the key.

I'm currently using 200 Grain Rainer plated HP's over 8 grains of AA#5, WLP, with a COL of 1.250 and and they function without a hiccup. I've also been playing with 230 Gr. LRN from the local caster and they work great.

Have a good one,
Dave

I have had no success whatsoever with LSWC in my XD45. I've been using a COL of 1.230 and I get almost 100% FTE. The spent case catches the shoulder of the case in the mag and hangs there. I've heard of similar problems with Glock 30s. My plan is simply to switch to RN or TC for the XD and shoot up my SWC in my other guns. My Star M45 eats SWC like its candy.

Sorry for applying the defib machine to this thread.

Anyways, I've been, for months, trying to find a 200 grain LSWC that works in my XD45. Apparently, XD45s are extremely finnicky when it comes to COAL in a 200 grain LSWC load. Yesterday, after much anguish, swearing, sadness, denial, pain, etc, I finally found a COAL for the 200 grain LSWC that works. I don't have the measurement on-hand, but I'll provide the info once I take my last remaining reload to the Man Shack for measurement.

I can tell you that I've been using assorted brass, WLP primers and CCI Large Pistol primers, and 6.7 grains of Unique. I'll most likely drop the charge as I find it to be a bit too snappy for target work or fast double-taps.

Okay.

Just took a measurement with my micrometer. The COAL for my 200 grain LSWC is 1.281 inches. I put 49 rounds through my XD45 Tactical yesterday with no issues.
