Quick question can you convert a Springfield XD Sub-compact (3in) 40sw to 357sig? Does anyone make a conversion barrell and mag? WHy doesnt SF make a 357 in the SC?

EFK Firedragon makes the barrel, but they're out of stock at the present time. Here's the link: http://www.efkfiredragon.com/products.php?cat=37&pg=1

I would imagine the slide weight might have something to do with it. I have one of the first XD Service Models that came out in 357 Sig, and it's a tack driver. It's a pretty high pressure round and taking another inch off the barrel length has to make it even louder than it already is.

As for magazines, the 357 Sig uses the .40 S&W magazine. I've got about a dozen magazines for my XD, and half of them are marked .40 S&W. They function just fine for the 357 Sig.

Hope this helps.

yeah, you just need to find the barrel somewhere. I've seen a couple manufacturers out there, but like Fred said, you don't need to get different mags. the .357 sig is just a necked-down .40. they share the same basic cartridge size so just the barrel is all you need to get. I've been looking at doing the same thing to my XD as well. I think it was about 130 bucks. Not bad for a sweet .357 sig!
