Anyone ever deal with S/A's Custom shop?
any word on turn around times here is what i would like done.

Machine Checker front strap

Machine Checker front and bottom of Trigger guard

Serrate rear of slide

Full Armory Coat of whole gun

Go to their website, click the Custom link. All prices are listed....

When I had SA's they did some trigger and sight work on my GI. Quick turnaround and excellent product.

but that was just mine.

Wasn't wondering about prices I was more interested in the quality of their customer service and turn around times.

Their chief gunsmith was pistolsmith of the year a couple years ago...'06, maybe?

You don't get to work at Springfield by being a slug. No way they would let any ol' joe work on $3000 FBI 1911s.

Yeah, they're that good. Even on "vanilla" jobs.

Mags-

Wasn't wondering about prices I was more interested in the quality of their customer service and turn around times.

i asked this same question a week or two ago and wound up just sending their custom shop an email, they were extremely responsive and answered all my questions. very helpful

ill be sending my pistol off sometime this or next week, no idea what the turnaround time is for work like that, but i'll be willing to wait :):D

Hey Real Mags,
I sent off my 1911 two years ago to get the front strap machine checkered 30lpi. IT WAS FABULOUS! Best money I spent on that gun, it was beautiful how it looked and felt! My gunsmith was all compliments after he saw her come back with the checkering done on her. Turn around time was a bit on the slow side, but not anywhere near as bad as cylinder and slide. I believe my wait was approximately 8-9 weeks. C&L's wait time is 8 months!:what: My advice is send your pistol in, they will take good care of you.

P.S. my pistol has been back twice. First time to front strap checker my GI model and the second time to mill the slide to accept Kimber cut Truglo TFO's. Springfield gets an A+++ for their work!!!

I have a Custom Carry. It's the equal of any gun at the range and I'll put it up against any 1911, whether it's a Brown, Wilson, or full-house custom. The Springfield Custom Shop does excellent work. The only problem is the long wait, it took 9 months for them to get to my gun.

For the price, quality and turn time I don't think you'll find anyone better.

I own a Rob Leatham made by the Springfield Custom shop and it is, by far, the finest made 1911 I've ever handled and/or shot.

(I also own a Les Baer, Nighthawk, and I've shot my buddy's Wilson quite often.)
