I have been shooting cap and ball revolvers for a little over 2 years now and have had four trigger/bolt springs break and half a dozen hand springs snap off. Am I unlucky or is this common for these guns? The flat trigger/bolt springs break close to the screw hole and the hand springs snap close to where they are crimped into the hand.
I have seen a wire replacement for the flat trigger/bolt spring and it looks like it is more durable than the flat type, has anyone tried this type of spring??
Thanks for any input.

Your experience is very unusual in my opinion. It's not uncommon for a spring to break every few years, but four trigger/bolt springs and six hand springs in two years is way above average.

The wire springs are much more durable.

Very unusual! I've been shooting traditional single actions for 25yrs and have only had one spring break, which was the hand spring on a friend's high mileage Frontier Scout. Yes, the music wire springs are much more durable and they find their way into all my guns as cheap insurance.
