Well made it out for a full range session today with some friends and alot of guns and ammo. The biggest reason to go was to put my new SR1911 through some paces to prove to myself it was my new ccw. I had already posted it would be, but I needed a few hundred rounds of proof. The first test was an accuracy test. Keep in mind none of us are bullseye shooters. I shoot USPSA and IDPA and my friends shoot casually one shoots some 3 gun matches. Anyways, the pistol had its first 50-60 rds through it 2 days ago. I shot several 5 shot groups at 25yds and so did 2 of my friends. The pistol was more accurate than the shooters for sure. We kept them in the 8in circle. I then did 8 full mags as fast as I could shoot and reload. I had 3 failures, two were magazine related (would not lock slide back on one of my Wilson Combat 47D mags). One of the failures was most likely ammo related. I was shooting Rainier Plated SWC and one round ran up nose first above the chamber locking the pistols slide movement. I was able to drop the mag and using a little more force than usual to rack the slide it dropped the round. and I got right back to shooting with no more problems. In all we ran 250 rds through the pistol and after shooting it side by side with a friends Kimber Custom TLE/RL II, I was happy I did not spend more on another 1911 as I did on a couple I own. I will repeat what I said in my last range report, THIS PISTOL ROCKS. I cannot believe the quality for $650ish give or take. I am definitely checkering the front strap and putting some Trijicons on it. Heres a few range pics and my step-son shooting his .22s. He shot his single six and cricket all day and had as much fun as I did. Nobody was too interested in taking pics so I only got a few taken more to come.
