I picked this up from a local pawn shop for $820 out the door. SRH 44 mag with a Leupold 2x scope and a Bianchi international shoulder holster. I did end up needing to replace the hammer spring, cost me about $13 shipped from Midway (Wilson Combat trigger tune kit).

Loving it so far. Once I got the light strikes / FTFs figured out (weak hammer spring) it's been good to go. Beating on the gong at 50 yards is a blast with the authority of a 44. I'm sure it's way more acccurate than me for now.... Need to work on focus and minimizing / eliminating flinch.

Pic shows some "Ruger only" hand loads (about 1.73" OAL). Haven't chronographed any yet, but based on recipe used I'm figuring to be at about 1300fps with a Hornady 300gr XTP.

Nice score! In the .44Mag, the 300gr XTP expands well but not so much as to hinder penetration.
Yep it ain't easy to stop a bullet with that much momentum, back when I hunted I found I liked the 300gr XTPs a lot better than 300gr hard cast for medium (under 500#) game, less tracking.

I guess it didn't take everybody here long to figure out the factory grips were inadequate for the recoil.
