I want to get my beech K31 to a nice, warm amber color, similar to the original shellac/BLO/stain mix or whatever they used.

Check this page out:

Any thoughts on which stain to use? I am leaning toward the Dark Vintage Maple, maybe not put it on that dark. Or would the Amber yellow be best? I plan on putting Formby's tung oil (wiping varnish) over it, and then paste wax.

Thanks!

What? There is obviously no other choice than the Purple Transient Dye. :D

I used a Honey Maple on my beech K31. It turned out a little bit darker than the Honey Amber, but not quite as dark as the Dark Vintage Maple.

After 2 coats of honey maple stain, I rubbed BLO into it and it came out pretty nice.
