Stainless Dovetail Blank

I don't know of a stainless blank, but Williams Gunsight has an aluminum blank that you can file down to match the contour of your barrel and it will come close to matching your stainless.

Brownell's lists a nickel-plated steel blank from Marble that should work. Catalog number is 579-087-101. It's made for a nominal 3/8", 60-degree slot, which is the standard for most US-made rifles.

Thanks all so far but I need Stainless to be a good match. I want to have the slide finished at some time in the future and carbon steel or aluminum wont finish the same as the rest of the slide.. its the simple things in life that get complicated so easy.. I plan on filing them down flush.

Slide?? Were you talking about blanking a dovetail in a semiauto pistol? ASIK, nobody makes that sort of an item, SS, carbon or what-have-you.

All of the items we mentioned were for a standard 3/8", 60-degree cut used on most US-made rifles, where there's a market for them due to removal of stock open irons replaced by a receiver sight or cosmetics after optics mounting.

IMO, your options on a pistol slide would boil down to having something custom made and fitted or having a truly Ace gunsmith/welder fill it in. Both are going to be costly, with the latter being seriously expensive because A: the few folks with the requisite skill and experience to do it properly charge accordingly, and B: having it done by someone else is most likely to end up costing you for both the effort and a new slide.

Out of curiousity, why?

yup.. for a semi auto PM9.
I've removed both sights and have melted the slide, added a hogue handall jr. More to do but need the blank stock first.. I came up with a possible solution using plain steel from brownells and then refinish the slide in black teflon or other coating to dull the finish of SS.
Why ???
I want a deep cover smooth hider with nothing to catch or grab no matter where I put it, thats manageble in my big paws. If I need this it wont be at the range and closer than the I need to aim with sights, which have become a distraction on this weapon so far, it shoots more accurately for me at 5yds and 7ft without them.
I had FIST make me an ultra thin, .o4o", kydex alteration of their K3 model and I will probably make some minor alterations to that as well.. the PM9, gold dots or silvertips in this holster should serve my purposes nicely.. much nicer to carry than my G36.

Thanks for responding.
