Hey all,

Which would you choose between the two? Sold the P3AT for a DB9. The DB9 is defiantly the smallest 9mm, but I think I would be more comfortable with the even smaller 380 in the pocket all day. I am not sure the P3AT is as resellable, so I am looking at the LCP and CW380 now...

in that size and price range, definitely the Taurus TCP or going a little larger, the Glock G42 will outshoot the rest with much less felt recoil.

I absolutely love my cw380. Small, nice fit/finish, accurate, lighter recoil than other small 380's and mine has been very reliable.

The P3AT is for those who can't afford a better .380 or for those who want the absolute lightest .380 on the market.

The CW380 beats the Ruger in every way except in having a shorter sight radius and shorter barrel. The issue with that 2.6" barrel is the loss of velocity potentially causing a hollow point bullet to not expand. That's the trade off for concealability.

I think the Kahr is more concealable and is of higher quality than the LCP as Kahr says the P380/CW380 is able to shoot +P load where Ruger says don't even try to shoot +P .380 in their LCP.

That tells me all I need to know between these two guns. A .380 loaded with +P loads is more powerful than a .38+P, with more rounds, faster reloading ability, and slimmer and is nearly as powerful as a standard pressure 9mm with none of the bulk.

If you get the Kahr for a carry gun, load it with Buffalo Bore +P JHP or load it with high quality FMJ ammo.

^^ this. I've had two CW380s, both had one malfunction with their first mags run through them but not a single one since. I will say, I bought some lower priced ammo and neither one would feed it. It can't recall the brand, was from Germany, but every other commonly found brand I've used has worked great. I like them way, way more than the LCP. Much softer shooting.

1st ,no official +P in 380 That BB add hype . I have a CW9 by Kahr nice pistol . I seen a lot of complaints about the 380 when new. Guess hit and miss

My KelTec 380 "I can afford way better :neener:" Just this has work fine for last 6 years with Corbon DPX ammo. At present I have started carrying a PF-9 Yes another KelTec as my pocket pistol Over 500 rounds of relieable 9mm so far.
If I want a little more weight in 380 I have a old PPK/s '
Ive owned nearly 20 years. It carries in a Don Humes pocket holster , very well. Loaded again with Corbon DPX .

@CNobbe

Let's not forget that Kahr strongly recommends a 200 round break in period for all new guns.

@Coyote3855

BB=Buffalo Bore

It's true that there is no techinial definition of what .380 ACP +P ammunition is, but a .380 shooting a 90 grain bullet 200 fps faster than normal is +P in my book. Buffalo Bore is the only ammo maker I know of that makes a 90 grain .380 bullet come out of a barrel at nearly 1200 fps.

I don't much care for their prices tho.

As for what I said about Kel Tec, I'm not hating on them, I just think there is better quality in handguns available. I wouldn't have a problem carrying a such a light .380 pistol, I'm just stating the facts that some people can't afford a pricier gun.

Basically, I didn't say the P3AT was cheap, I just said it wasn't expensive :D

Anyone pocket carry both?

I am leaning CW380 (though I've had horrible Kahr experiences before). I am worried that the CW380 is more blocky and will be less comfortable. Comfort is 100% of this equation.

The CW is very light and not blocky at all. I've handled one at a show and holding it, the CW380 fits between the base of the palm and end of the index finger.

I have actual experience with the second generation (hammer starts from half cock and shorter trigger pull) LCP and can recommend it. 100% reliable and a smooth trigger. I specifically want a pocket-carried backup or "get off me" gun to be as smooth and streamlined as possible. The square profile and more protruding sights of the Kahr or Glock 42 work against that. This is just a personal preference.

The slide stop lever on the CW380 seems to be in a bad spot for me, its either gouging my shooting thumb or I have to be careful that my shooting thumb doesn't apply upward pressure on the lever.

I can't get past the trigger on the LCP.

I am waiting on the Remington RM380 as that may be a good companion pistol to my Rohrbaugh R9. I REALLY wish they hadn't messed with the design, I like having a firearm with nothing to snag, but I'll have to evaluate it to see how the slide stop affects me on the RM380.

Every so often I see the TCP go on sale for $169.99 w/$5.99 shipping and I personally know people who have reliable TCPs - so those sales keep tempting me too.

The TCP is the most underrated 380 micro out there. Don't get me wrong, the G42 and the P238 are both better pistols, but they are also bigger and much more expensive. I have shot the Kahr and extensively shot my son's LCP and IMO the TCP is a better pistol than either of them.

Been carrying a CW380 for some time now and at a gun show last Sunday I picked up a CT380, slightly longer barrel and grip, larger sights, one more round (7+1). Brought it home, greased it up, went outside and shot a variety of factory hardball, my light reloads of round nose flat points, and XTP hot reloads. Zero malfunctions.

Also have a CW9 and P45. Obviously I like Kahr's.

If you live in my neck of the woods I will sell you my CW380 as the CT is now my carry gun. :)
