There is absolutely no reason for this thread other than I hadn't seen anything here about the Star BM 9mm pistol lately...

I consider the Star BM to be one of the better firearm bargains on the surplus pistol market..

My Star BM was purchased a couple of years ago for (I think) somewhere around $130.00. An FFL friend got a couple and sold me the best one. He checked it out, and I think polished the feed ramp and such, and I have yet to have it faulter in any way.

I only shoot cheap wwwb ammo thru it, and the darn thing eats 'em up, and is surprisingly accurate at any self defense range.

I would say my Star BM would rate out at somewhere in the low 90 percentile range for condition, and I think at what I paid for it I got a lot of pistol for a little money. My Star was a Guardia Civilia pistol, and I think it probably got carried more than shot.

I've seen some Star BM's that folks have had hard chromed, with nice wooden grips on them and they are BEAUTIFUL. I keep "wanting" to have mine all prettied up.. I just can't seem to get over the fact that a new re-finish job/new grips would cost considerably more than I paid for the sucker to start with and probably won't increase it's resale value $2.00. (Not that I plan to sell it anyway.)

Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet and do it anyway... It sure makes for a neat little "mini-1911" lookalike.

Best Wishes,

J. Pomeroy

Liked mine enough to get a second as a spare. Price was right. Also was happy to pick up the full sized "BS" model when CDNN had some a while back. Mags for it have been much harder to find though.

A picture is worth... Regards, Richard:D

I believe that the Star BM is the size that single action 9mm autos should have always been. Mine is not pretty but shoots well and is well worth the $150 I spent on it. Its the 9mm I shoot the most.

I gave $125 for my BM and then purchased a spare magazine , had it hard chromed, and bought the grips. I probably have $300 in mine and I have gotten 17 years of service out of it. My BM doesn't owe me a cent! Regards, Richard:D

Great guns - the right size for 9mm, nice triggers, excellent ergonomics. It's too bad they're not in production today.

The alloy frame version (BKM) was also a fine carry piece.

SHHHHHHHHHH. If you dummies keep talking everyone will want one and the price will go up!!! They are the best kept secret going!!!:D

Those look real nice. If I could find one for $130-150 I'd buy one just to have one but just perusing gunbroker and it looks like they have jumped quite a bit in the last couple years.

Pretty grips but I would like them better checkered. Numrich used to have checkered walnut grips for the BM and PD Stars. Not as shiny but easier to hang on to.

I've owned my BKM for 15 years and I still love shooting it.
It would certainly take more than $150 to get me to sell mine.:D

NIB...a little heavy but a perfect size

This one on top was new-in-the-box until that day I decided to shoot it and carry it some...

Then a friend gave me some checkered walnut grips that needed cleaning and refinishing. Now looks like this...

+1 on GunGripGuys -- they made my BM a real "Stopper" at the range.
+1 on the GREAT triggers.
+1 on the genral ergonomics.

Mine has a little more holster war, but I love and carry it cocked & locked. It's a tad heavy for its size, but it's all steel and a great shooter.

Great gun at a low price. Too bad I'm waiting on source for a firing pin as mine broke. Nice little plinking gun.
