I have 2 of these and only paid 160.00 for each about 12 yr. ago . I love these commander size 1911 style pistols they are both supper accurate . has any one else owned or shot any of these wonderful pistols ? thanks David
 
I've shot my friend's a few times. Starvel finish, nice shooting little pistol. Too bad they are not made and repair parts are non-existent.
 
I still see Stars online (the dealer says they are imports from Israel), but they are going for between $300 and $400 now....

I sort of want to pick one up, but it is competing with whatever my gun flavor of the day is today...
 
I paid too much for a model b. It's had two expensive trips to the smith. I like the ergos of the gun, but the hammer bites occasionally. With the right ammo it can be accurate, but because mine has never run a 100% I don't trust it for anything but the range.

I am sorry I didn't by a BM. They have a loyal following.
 
Great little pistols!

I have 4 of them, all purchased in the past ~8 years. IIRC, the most I paid was ~$160 for the 2 that came in excellent condition.

I liked the first 2 so much that I jumped at an opportunity to buy 2 more in a condition more along the lines of Rode Hard & Put Away Wet (this was quite awhile after the supply of Star BMs had dried up). I had a good time cleaning, repairing & bluing those two.

I find the BMs to be a bit on the heavy side but they are comfortable, accurate and reliable.
 
I bought two BMs at $150 each in about '05. Great little pistols. Parts are actually not that tough to find, but it's a niche market.

yea it is a great gun ,my ole man picked up 3 back 05 and after that they dry'd up .for the most part no problem's ,except my brother in law broke the barrel link on his .
dad took a 1911 link and reprofiled it and after that no problem's .i guess one guy in spain bought all that was made up in parts and info ,they can be had but at his price ,dont ask how much .after that he found a guy in the state's that make'sthem right and at a good price.
 
^^^ This - not a bad idea to pick up a spare firing pin and new recoil spring. The FP's are said to not withstand dry firing unless you have a snap cap.

I bought a couple way back when from SOG at $129 each. Eventually sold them off in various trades but they are very accurate, perfect reliability, easy to take apart, and I prefer no grip safety. Probably should have kept one, but another pistol was singing it's siren song...:evil:

i just checked they dont have to much left at all ,firing pins ,extractor's a few springs .
 
FWIW:

I bought one several years ago (for around $160) and it was a sweet little shooter.

I had read about the supply of parts drying up, and as with rcjohnson I heard another pistol calling my name.

But, I would certainly buy another one if one came along in the right condition at the right price (not gonn' hoppen' GI).

Nice pistols..
