I've been trying to talk my buddy out of his Star Firestar for awhile. He finally broke down and sold it to me yesterday. It's a 9mm with the starvel finish. He bought it from a friend of his dad's. It was one of those "Just in case" guns, bought, stuck in a dresser drawer and never fired. He's only ran a few rounds through it. I don't really know what it's worth, but for $200 i jumped on it. I haven't fired it yet but it's a hefty little thing. I think i'm really gonna like it.

I did a google search but didn't really find what i was looking for: wood grips and instructions (it came with the original box but the instructions are gone) on how to field strip it. Anyone have any ideas on where to find either one?

A friend had one, just like the one you got, it was a good little gun, similar in some ways to my Astra A-75, except SA. He got almost $330 bucks for his, so you did really good.

I have a Firestar M-40 (.40 cal) they are built like a tank and are great
shooters. I offten shoot it and my Kimber custom in the same shooting
session and you can't see any diffrence in the groups.
I payed $350 for mine and $40 more for anouther mag about 7 years ago.
On ebay they always have a ton of Firestar 9mm mags but rarely do they
have .40 cal.
I took it to a gun show to try and get a holster for it and I had about
dozen people stop me and make good offers for the gun.
(I might be doing some trading with it soon though. I really like the CZ
2075 Rami in .40 cal.)

I can't waite to shoot the thing. The more i handle it the better i like it. I had it appraised today (remember this is kalifornya) and he priced it at $325.

I suppose it's okay to shoot +p's? Now i need to find a good belt holster.

I've had several firestars. My first was a starvel 9mm like yours and it was an excellent gun. Very accurate and completely reliable (as has been every firestar I've owned). My only problem with them, and was true for evey one of them, was that the safety was very easy to swipe off. When carrying, I would often find that the safety had moved to fire. Wasn't comfy with that. A firestar with a nice "snicky" safety would be great. They are also quite heavy for thier size.

And parts and mags are a toughy.

But they are great shooters, with nice ergonomics.

I'm thinking of carrying my firestar. My safety is a little slippery too. Do you think a gunsmith could get it any less slippery?

I finally got to run some rounds through the thing. I ran 100 rounds of Miwall 115 gr hardball reloads and 50 rounds of 115gr Silvertips through it. It ate 'em all without a single hitch. At 21 ft, simi rapid fire, the all stayed in the black, groups were about 2". I's now on my list of never get rid of guns.
