I noticed the ad as well. Free shipping helps, no tax if you're out of state. If you have the C&R license no fee to locate an FFL dealer....Yeah, a little high, but I've had two Star's before in the Largo and I regretted selling them both. I think they will sell...When you add no sales tax (high in my area), no shipping, no FFL fee; go for it....:)

They are worth more like $200 and star impossible to get parts for.

want a better gun get a taurus 1911 9mm or RIA for only $450

I agree, for essentially the same price the RIA 9mm 1911 is a much better gun for the money.

But the Star has some collector value as they ain't making them anymore, which can be a problem if you plan on shooting it a lot.

I'll probably order one on my C&R, will go nicely with my Star BM and BS 9mm pistols.

The BM at ~$170 served me well until the reasonably priced RIA 9mm 1911 finally came out -- never could see spending $800+ on a gun who's main reason was to shoot cheap ammo. I picked up three BSes, one to shoot, one to collect and one for spare parts at various prices and conditions when they were plentiful five or so years ago. The best is the safe queen, the worst is for spare parts.

I'd get one for the fun of it. All the Star pistols I had in the past were good solid guns. be nicer at $300 each, but as mentioned, there are no more Star pistols being made.

These will not be collectibles, but they will be good shooters. They are re-arsenaled. Don't know what the finish is, but the originals were a deep blue.

I have 2 - one a very nice original, the other a re-arsenaled with non-matching numbers. Both are excellent shooters, but only 1 is collector quality.

I think the price is still about $100 high.

While I have found Star pistols to be well made and very reliable, I think the price is too high for these particular ones.

Actually that is not a bad price, and Numrich has a good selection of parts. The biggest draw back is magazine pricing. The Model B's had a great reputation for reliability, actually better than Colts chamber in 9mm. And while many parts will not interchange with a 1911 you can still build up a nice gun with new sights for a bargain price.

Star may not be so collectable but they're FANTASTIC shooters and have a great trigger, anyone that says they're not as good as a RIA clearly hasn't owned one or simply dent like the pistol, all said and done idk about 400$ seems a little high but if you do end up with it you will be happy

Though it's not often paid, almost all states require that you pay a use tax (reported on your income tax filing at the end of the year) on all such out of state purchases.
