I was in a local gun store this morning and I saw a gun I had never seen before. It was a single-stack 9 mm with a polymer frame. Seemed like a nice gun, but I didn't know anything about it. It is called a Star Ultrastar. Having lurked on here for a long while, I know that a lot of folks like Star guns, especially the Star BM.

What do folks think about this gun? It seemed like it ought to be very good for concealed carry.

Thanks.

When Interarms stopped importing the Stars,a shop was blowing out Firestar Plus and Ultrastars for $199 each.I have regretted not buying 2 of each many, many, many times. Not very common but a neat pistol.I think had Star still been around,it would have become a very popular CCW piece.

Hello

My friend has an Ultra. Kinda neat pistol, but it's not that lightweight, has a terrible DA trigger and mags are hard to find. Having said that, I still try to buy it from him when we shoot.

I was sad to see Star go down the tubes. They had some cool stuff. The Firestar always seemed to have positive feedback. I'd still buy one today if I found a good enough deal. I would be concerned with parts supplies drying up.

The Ultra Star was neat too. IIRC when you engaged the safety it kind of hung out from the gun which was a little odd. No big deal though, with a DA first shot who needs it.

I have an Ultrastar 9mm, and it has been a good weapon. It is not the most refined, but has never had a problem, is just as good a shooter as my Glock 19, and fits the glock 19 holsters I have. Magazines can be found on gunbroker, but the pistol came with 2. It has a decocker which is nice. I paid about $200 for it almost 10 years ago, and have never regretted it.
